Duties and
responsibilities:
The optometrists treat patients with vision
problem. They treat it by diagnosing their problems and then they write them a prescription
for getting eyeglasses, contact lenses, or vision therapy. Some of the
optometrist specializes in vision safety; the treatment of the vision will
relate learning disabilities, and environmental vision care. Not like
ophthalmologists they are not physicians and they can’t write a medical
prescription, treat diseases, or even perform surgery. Mostly a few optometrists
are self-employed, which however many of them work for hospitals, government
agencies, optical manufacturers, or universities.

Educational requirements:
Most students are interested in becoming an
optometrist. They should take more challenging high school courses (AP or IB)
in math, science, and English. But before they enter an optometry school they
should at least take two years of college in a pre-professional program is also
required. The optometry school is four years.
