Perfusionist

Duties and responsibilities:

 The clinical perfusionists operate circulation equipment during the medical situations only when it is necessary to temporarily and artificially replace the patients circulatory or the respiratory functions. This only occurs during heart surgery and similar operations. The perfusionists are also control the temperature of patients during the surgery. The perfusionists duties are:

·       Operating the heart lungs machines

·       Administering some types of anesthesia

·       Administering some type of medication

Educational requirements:

The only thing that is required in the perfusionist training programs are a high school diploma with a strong background in biology and chemistry. Admissions preference is given to students with college science work or experience in respiratory therapy and medical terminology.

The perfusionist training programs are given at academic health centers and medical schools and universities. They emphasize hands-on, practical training. The course length varies, but for the school to be recognized by the American Academy of Cardiac Perfusionists, the curriculum must include the supervised performance of 150 procedures to include 20 pediatric and infant cases.

They evaluate patient’s satisfaction, investigate complaints, they collect information about the patients dissatisfaction, they also work with departments to resolve the patients problems, and they even educate staff.

Patient representatives work in the hospital, nursing homes, some other long-term care facilities, and in public health agencies.

 The students should take more challenging courses in high school for business, science, math, and English.

what Matt is saying in this quote is that we shouldn't give up on something you always try even if you fail you should just get up and try again. if you keep trying you will achieve something but never give up because that is just showing that you really don't care you fail the first time you are not going to try no more. for example gabby Douglas is a gymnastic and she was good at it but there was a point when she just said i want to quit but she never did cause she got back up and back to gymnastic and she had finally achieved and she is now famous and won the champion in 2012.

 Osteopathic physicians use accepted methods of diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases. Even though they practice in all branches of medicine and surgery like the allopathic physicians (M.D.s) they are different by emphasizing the importance of the musculoskeletal system, holistic medicine, proper nutrition and environmental factors in the maintaining good health. The osteopaths use hands-on approach to medicine and frequently manipulate or palpate as part of the diagnosis and treatment. They work primarily in osteopathic hospitals or private practices room, however many of the allopathic hospitals now accept osteopathic physicians as staff members. The majority of the osteopaths are general practitioners, family practitioners, or even emergency medicine specialists.

 The optometrists treat patients with vision problem. They treat it by diagnosing their problems and then they write them a prescription for getting eyeglasses, contact lenses, or vision therapy. Some of the optometrist specializes in vision safety; the treatment of the vision will relate learning disabilities, and environmental vision care. Not like ophthalmologists they are not physicians and they can’t write a medical prescription, treat diseases, or even perform surgery. Mostly a few optometrists are self-employed, which however many of them work for hospitals, government agencies, optical manufacturers, or universities.

 Most students are interested in becoming an optometrist. They should take more challenging high school courses (AP or IB) in math, science, and English.  The opticians fit and dispense eyeglasses for the patients based on the prescriptions that’s written by the ophthalmologists or the optometrists. The opticians help the customers pick their eyeglass frames. Then they measure their faces so it can be in the correct size frames and can be ordered. They even measure the distance between the corneas of the eyes so that the lenses may be correctly fitted in the frames. Some of the opticians specialize in the fitting of contact lens and also in fitting artificial eyes. They may have their own retail store or they can work for the optical store. Most of them can also work for the optometrists and ophthalmologists who even sell glasses.

 The only ones that can become a ophthalmologists are only physicians that study to become as that.  Ophthalmic technicians or technologists help ophthalmologists collect the data and measurements to allow the correct diagnosis and even the treatment of the eye diseases and problems. Ophthalmic work at the hospitals, clinics, or for ophthalmologists in private practice. Their duties often include:

·       Assisting with eye surgery.

·       Explaining the diagnostic and treatment procedures to the patients

i think i would like to be a ophthalmic because i can see what wrong with peoples eyes and what type of glasses they need. This can teach me a lot of this if i do become a ophthalmic technicians.

My goals that i achieved

Through all of my goals that i wrote down i haven't achieved one yet. Hopefully soon one of my goals start to come around soon. All i can say right now that i should never give up on something i want to achieve in life. Most of the goals i am getting close to achieve it and i'm going to keep doing whatever i can so i can achieve the rest of my goals.

Operating Room Technician

Duties and responsibilities:

 The operating room technicians are also called surgical technicians or surgical technologists. They are responsible for having the surgical instruments, sterile bandages and linens, needed fluids, and some other equipment ready for the operation. They may have assist doctors for they can hand them the instrument they need during the surgery and for counting the sponges and needles before and after the operation. They deliver specimens to hospital laboratories for analysis and right after the operations they start taking the patients to the recovery room.

Educational Requirements:

 A high school diploma or GED certificate is required. Many junior colleges offer programs in operating room technology, and training may also be taken at a large hospitals. The programs vary between one or two years. A few students receive training in medical terminology, physiology, and sterilization methods. The students should take an examination by the Association of Surgical Technologist at the end of class.
